Theology Applied
When we study theology, we are coming to study a relational, trinitarian God. This means the theology seeks knowledge and relationship of this God, it is not simply an academic discipline. Because of this, theology is often most seen most clearly in practice, in everyday life experience. This module will teach theological reflection, the ability to use the sources of: Scripture, tradition, reason, experience in order to reflect on specific scenarios.
Electives
Each student will have the opportunity to choose from one of the elective books to read. They are all creative examples of how theology can be applied especially in light of many cultural issues we see today. They provide an opportunity to step into the work of a theologian practicing a habitus approach to theology.

The elective choices are:
Reading While Black - Esau McCaulley
Rediscovering Scripture's Vision for Women - Lucy Peppiatt
A War of Loves - David Bennett
Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus - Nabeel Qureshi
Jesus Through the Eyes of Women - Rebecca McLaughlin
Assessment
Students are again encouraged to choose their assessment for this module. If interested in pursuing further studies, we suggest the 1,500-word paper option:
- A 1,000-word book report on one of the elective books. This will need to refer to the book throughout as well as other sources in conversation with the book, although the style of writing can be slightly different and more informal than a paper. It will need a bibliography and use quotations with footnotes or endnotes throughout.
- A 1,500-word paper on one of the subjects discussed during the module facilitation. This can reference the textbook and other sources mentioned during facilitation. It will need to provide a bibliography and use quotations with footnotes or endnotes throughout.
